Robert J. Krail
Founding Principal



Founding Principal and Co-Head of the Global Stock Selection team at AQR, Bob Krail is responsible for all of AQR's equity strategies. Prior to co-founding AQR Capital Management, Bob worked at Goldman, Sachs & Co. as a Vice President and portfolio manager in the Asset Management Division where he developed and managed quantitative stock selection and asset allocation strategies. At Goldman, these strategies were used to manage proprietary capital, a hedge fund, institutional separate accounts and retail mutual funds. In particular, Bob was the senior portfolio manager responsible for Global Alpha, a global market-neutral hedge fund. Prior to joining Goldman, Bob worked at Trout Trading Company where he managed Trout Trading’s global market-neutral stock selection effort. He developed, implemented and managed these strategies in the U.S., U.K. and Japan. Prior to that, Bob was in the Ph.D. program in Finance at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business researching quantitative stock selection strategies. Prior to that, Bob was a corporate finance Analyst at Dean Witter Reynolds. Bob received a BS in Engineering with distinction from Harvey Mudd College in 1989.
